What would be the best material for a blade?
I know that this question is thrown around a lot, but I need a direct response. im making a mechanical engineering course, and I want to design and build a folding machete. forget the folding part, if one were build a machete war, not a "hack the brambles in my garden, and an unlimited budget, what would be best for chip resistance and the maintenance of sharpness, edge of Tungsten Carbide and the center of spring steel? that'ss probably too brittle, steel coated with boron nitride? I wish it was as clear as possible. as "cutting a silk fabric under its own weight" sharp. Any ideas welcome:)
Assuming that the money Not a problem, the best material is titanium. Difficult to define an edge, but once you get it sharpened, it will fall to through a stone wall sheet.
